Each year on Mother’s Day weekend in May, Friends School of Minnesota puts on the biggest fundraising plant sale in Minnesota, perhaps even in the Midwest!
This year, over 2,000 varieties of plants are offered for sale—perennials, climbing plants, native wildflowers, vegetables, roses, and trees and shrubs.

Art-A-Whirl is the largest open studio tour in the country, which happens annually throughout Northeast Minneapolis the third weekend of May.
Over 1,300 NEMAA member artists, galleries, and businesses participate across all of Northeast Minneapolis at over 100 locations. Art-A-Whirl is a fantastic way to connect with artists in their own spaces, enjoy demonstrations and interactive activities, listen to live music, and enjoy local restaurants and breweries. Art-A-Whirl is free and open to the public.

This year’s theme: “Metamorphosis,” features acclaimed artist John Vogl – @notjohnvogl with his captivating Acrylic Gouache painting titled “There I Go Again” serving as the backdrop for the event poster.
Based in Minneapolis, MN, John Vogl is a talented freelance illustrator known for his unique blend of digital and traditional techniques. “There I Go Again” perfectly embodies the Fair’s theme of “Metamorphosis,” showcasing a stunning portrayal of change with its floral and butterfly motifs flowing off the figure’s dress against a backdrop of the sun. The theme of “Metamorphosis” was chosen to reflect the ever-evolving nature of the world and the 50th and France district itself. As several new shops have recently joined the district, and a new director of the association takes the helm, the Fair celebrates the spirit of transformation and growth.
