Building a New Home for a Growing Family

October 10, 2018

Why buy new? With a new home, you pick the floor plan and finishes that fit your lifestyle. You choose the community and neighborhood that speak to you. And you can even select just the right energy-saving features that balance your personal philosophy with your budget. We asked this family to share what drove them to new construction.

Why did you decide to build new?

My wife and I decided to build a new home because existing home prices seemed high considering the amount of money we would have had to put into updates. We also want to be in our new home for the next 30 years, so the idea of having everything new and exactly the way we wanted it was attractive to us.

How did the current market affect your decision to buy a new home?

In the current market it seemed we could either buy an existing home and update it, or build a new home for a little more money and avoid the stress of updating a house. So with this market and in the area we were interested in, it just made sense to build. Hassle free and saves time.

What are some features of your new home you are most excited for?

We are most excited for more space. We will have two kids under 13 months very soon so the more room the better.

Why did you choose your particular neighborhood?

We chose our area because it was in School District 196. District 196 is large and seems to have many options for kids throughout their education. Also, the close proximity to a newly developing area was attractive. There are major plans for the area surrounding the new Vikings practice complex and we feel that will bring future value to our area in many ways.
